Sight Seeing Tours
St. Lucia possesses a stunning beauty, matched by no other island in the Caribbean. In the mountainous interior lies the enormous National Rain Forest, and coastal sights include the breathtaking Pitons. To participate in any of the above tours please contact our frontdesk and plan your tour. In addition to its fabulous setting, Soufriere is the gateway to some of St. Lucia's most interesting natural attractions -- the world's only drive-in volcano; pretty Diamond Falls, the lowest of the six waterfalls that tumble down the mountain from the volcano.Nearby, too, are some historic plantations - Soufriere Estate and Morne Coubaril Estate and Fond Doux Estate which can be visited.
A Caribbean Eden is just one description of the award winning Soufriére Estate's Diamond Botanical Gardens, Waterfall and Mineral Baths. Located within a lush narrow gorge one can understand the 1998 "Insider Award" being given to this haven recognizing it as one of the top 25 " nature experiences" within the Caribbean as well as the "Ste. Lisi Par Excellence" award for the best natural/historical tourism site on St. Lucia. Within the confines of these beautiful gardens lies the essence of French and British history in St. Lucia.
Two miles south of Soufriere, you explore the "drive-in" volcano. Also known as the Sulphur Springs, the area is the remnant of a volcanic crater, now protected by the St. Lucia National Trust. The road goes to the edge of the volcanic activity from where you can walk with a park guide to see pools of boiling mud and clouds of steam that shoot 50 feet in the air. Small streams of water flow over the rocks streaking them with colors that indicate the presence of sulphur, iron, copper, magnesium, and zinc. Fresh rain water collects in the boiling crater where it is heated, saturated with minerals, and runs down the mountainside in six waterfalls - the lowest being Diamond Falls, east of Soufriere
St.Lucia's interior has a huge natural rain forest. Of particular appeal to bird watchers, hikers and nature lovers, it covers 19,000 acres of lush mountains and valleys. It is home to giant ferns, birds of paradise and many other indigenous tree species, exotic flowers and fruits, and its paths are strewn with tiny bromeliads, wild orchids and mushrooms.
Among the rare and beautiful birds adding color to the scene are the brightly-hued St. Lucia Parrot, known locally as the "Jacquot," the White Breasted Thrasher, the St. Lucia Peewee, and the St. Lucia Oriole
St. Lucia's warm clear waters and numerous spectacular reefs and marine life offer a perfect environment for both beginners and expert divers. Many hotels offer scuba diving facilities and snorkeling equipment and there are a number of independent dive centers such as Dive Fair Helen and Frogs diving, offering short boat dives, night dives and a variety of scuba courses. The Anse Cochon and Anse Chastanet reefs and an old sunken ship are some of the underwater haunts waiting to be explored. Our front desk can assist you with making these arrangements once you get to St lucia .
Deep Sea Fishing
A number of boat charter operations on the island offer whole and half-day deep sea fishing excursions. Seasonal catches include mackerel, king mackerel, white marlin, barracuda, kingfish and sailfish. Our local water taxi association can take on an fishing expedition.
